Can I refund the social security paid by an individual if I don't want to pay it?

Social security paid by individuals can be refunded if they don't want to pay, as follows:

1. If a flexible employee participates in employee medical insurance in his personal capacity and pays a lump sum, if he finds a job on the way, the employer pays employee medical insurance for him. In this case, the overpaid employee medical insurance fee can be refunded;

2. After going through the insurance payment procedures, if the insured person requests to withdraw from participating in the residents' medical insurance before the treatment enjoyment period because of the cancellation of household registration, transfer out, cancellation of student status, participation in other social insurances, etc., and has not yet enjoyed the annual residents' medical insurance benefits, he should go through the formalities of surrender and refund within the first month or time limit of the treatment enjoyment period. If the insured students join the army for half a year and the residents' medical insurance pooling fund has not paid their medical expenses, they can go through the formalities of surrender and refund.

Legal basis: Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).

The medical expenses of the insured shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund, and shall be directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical business units.

The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.

Article 30

The following medical expenses are not included in the payment scope of the basic medical insurance fund:

(a) shall be paid by the industrial injury insurance fund;

(2) It shall be borne by a third party;

(three) shall be borne by public health;

(4) Go abroad for medical treatment.

Medical expenses that should be borne by a third party according to law. If the third party is unable to pay or cannot determine the third party, the basic medical insurance fund will pay in advance. After the basic medical insurance fund pays in advance, it has the right to recover from the third party.
