Three categories of social security payment
1. Employee social security refers to the pension, medical care, maternity, work-related injury and unemployment insurance paid by employees who work normally in enterprises and institutions, and enterprises and employees each bear part of the expenses;
2. Flexible employment social security refers to the pension and medical insurance paid by individual industrial and commercial households or flexible employees in the form of flexible employment according to their personal wishes. The expenses are all borne by individuals, and the burden is heavy, but they can enjoy the same pension and medical insurance benefits as employee social security. ;
2. Social security for urban and rural residents refers to the pension and medical insurance paid by urban and rural residents, which is paid once a year, with lower cost and slightly lower welfare than employee insurance. Social security for residents and social security for flexible employment can only be paid at the place where the household registration is located. If foreign household registration personnel meet the purchase restriction policy in some areas, they can only pay employee social security through social security payment units. If it is to protect medical care and provide for the aged, because residents' insurance benefits are relatively low, they can choose to pay flexible employment social security, and those who have the ability can pay employee social security and enjoy higher treatment.
Legal basis: Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).
The medical expenses of the insured shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund, and shall be directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical business units.
The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
Article 7
The administrative department of social insurance in the State Council is responsible for the national social insurance management, and other relevant departments in the State Council are responsible for the relevant social insurance work within their respective functions and duties.
The social insurance administrative department of the local people's government at or above the county level shall be responsible for the social insurance management within its administrative area, and other relevant departments of the local people's government at or above the county level shall be responsible for the relevant social insurance work within their respective functions and duties.
