Are medical insurance and social security a card now?

Legal analysis: social security card and medical insurance card are not the same card, but different cards with different uses. The full name of social security card is social security card, and medical insurance card is medical insurance card. Social security card has two accounts, namely medical insurance account and financial account (bank account), while medical insurance card has only one medical insurance account. The medical insurance card only has the medical insurance function, and can only do things related to medical insurance, such as registering, seeing a doctor and buying medicine. In addition to this medical insurance function, social security cards also have financial functions. The so-called financial function is actually the function of the bank card. After activating the financial function, the social security card can only be activated normally in the bank account, and it can be used as an ordinary debit card. Functionally, social security cards are far more powerful than medical insurance cards. Social security card has six basic functions: medical settlement, identification, information recording, self-inquiry, social security payment and treatment collection, and financial payment. The medical insurance card only has one function of medical settlement, and none of the other functions are available. Social security card can do what medical insurance card can do, but medical insurance card can't do what social security card can do.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law. The employing unit shall handle social insurance registration for employees within 30 days from the date of employment. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay. Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration. The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.
