When I was in school, I knew that this academic qualification was not enough, but in vocational colleges like ours, we didn’t even have the opportunity to directly upgrade to a bachelor’s degree. It’s too difficult to get an undergraduate degree from another school. Just when I was feeling more desperate, I learned about the self-study exam. At that time, college students had relatively easy schoolwork and had a lot of spare time. So I started my self-study career in the first semester of my freshman year.

The so-called self-study means studying by yourself, signing up by yourself, and taking the exam by yourself. In other words, how you take the exam and the progress of the exam are all in your own hands. People like me are studying for undergraduate studies and taking self-study exams at the same time. As long as you obtain a junior college degree and pass certificates for all self-taught subjects, you can immediately obtain a bachelor's degree. So my plan at that time was to pass all the self-study exams before graduating from the major, and then obtain a bachelor's degree in a very short time. However, the ideal is very full and the reality is very skinny. The self-study exam process was not as smooth as I expected. Some subjects were difficult to understand and I took the exam three times before I passed. Once you fail once, it will have an impact on your learning progress and choice of exam subjects.

The frequency of self-taught exams is quite high, but it is not always possible to get the subjects you want to take. Therefore, it is possible that this subject is almost passed this time, but this subject will not be available in the next exam, or it will conflict with other subjects, and you will have to adjust your study arrangements. Although the progress of the self-study is in your own hands, the results of the self-study are not. In fact, my exams were generally relatively smooth when I was in school, and we were given two choices when I was about to graduate. For the major I took, there were two schools to choose from. If you pay 5,000 yuan for the first exam, you can skip four or five subjects. There is no need to pay extra for the first one, you just need to study hard for the exam. At that time, I was young and frivolous, and I felt sorry for my parents' money, so I chose the second one. Now that I think about it, I feel so regretful that my intestines are green!

Several students in our class who chose the first school obtained their undergraduate degree immediately after receiving their junior college degree. They can have the treatment of undergraduates when they start working. In order to save those thousands of dollars, I did not complete the self-study exam when I graduated. I could only continue taking the exam while working. However, newcomers in the workplace really rarely have time to study, and they may not even be able to take exams on time, so I procrastinated and waited for more than two years to get my undergraduate degree. So this incident made me understand a truth: things that can be solved with money are best solved with money, otherwise it is easy to lose more than the gain.

The threshold for self-study undergraduate studies is very low. As long as you are willing, you will have the opportunity to take the exam. But it is not easy to get a bachelor's degree. It requires you to study hard, make choices and plan well.
