Gansu people were not Huns before. In fact, Gansu people have little to do with Xiongnu. The ancient Xiongnu basically left the Gulf countries, Xinjiang and European Arab countries. Now Gansu people are immigrants from Shanxi and southern provinces, so Gansu people now have nothing to do with the ancient Huns.

Topography of Gansu province

Gansu is located at the intersection of Loess Plateau, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau. The territory is characterized by complex topography, criss-crossing mountains and great disparity in elevation, integrating mountains, basins, plains, deserts and Gobi, and belongs to mountainous plateau landform. Gansu's landform is complex and diverse, with mountains, plateaus, Pingchuan, river valleys, deserts and Gobi distributed alternately.

The terrain is inclined from southwest to northeast, long and narrow, with a length of 1659 km from east to west and a width of 530 km from north to south. It can be roughly divided into six regions with their own characteristics. Most of them are above 1000 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains, with six plates and Longshou Mountain in the north and Minshan Mountain, Qinling Mountain and Ziwuling Mountain in the east. It is bordered by Altun Mountain and Qilian Mountain in the west and Qingniling in the south.
