Camel City ruins run north-south, with a rectangular plane, 425 meters wide from east to west and 704 meters long from north to south, covering an area of 299,200 square meters. The city wall is rammed with loess, the rammed soil layer is 0. 10 to 0.15m thick, the wall base is 6m wide and the residual height is 7m. In the desert Artemisia annua, it is in sharp contrast with the immigrant villages with red bricks and green trees not far away.
Every crack, every bump, records the baptism of wind and rain and the carving of war. This is the site of the ancient capital of Beiliang and the important town of Camel City in Tang Dynasty, and it is one of the fourth batch of key cultural relics protection units in China. Camel city ruins are divided into north and south cities. Wengcheng, Jiaodun and Yaodun are the largest and best preserved ancient cultural sites in China. Hundreds of painted wall tiles unearthed from Camel City site reflect all kinds of social life in Han and Tang dynasties in a panoramic way, and are an image of Hexi development history.
Site distribution:
Camel city site is divided into north and south parts. North and south cities are separated by a wall, with a total area of 307,700 square meters. Nancheng is 494 meters long from north to south and 425 meters wide from east to west, while Beicheng is 425 meters long from east to west and 2 10 meters wide from north to south. There are two doors in the east, west and south, and there is a square altar outside the door. In the southwest corner of the city, there is a small town with a length of 132 meters from north to south and a width of 79 meters from east to west, commonly known as "Miyagi". You can see the ancient wells in the city.
Beicheng, commonly known as the "Imperial City", covers an area of 65,400 square meters. There is an urn in the middle of the south, which opens the east and west gates and communicates with the south city. There are 6×6 m square corner piers at the four corners of the city wall. The total length of existing city walls in the two cities is1933m. Bricks, tiles and pottery pieces from the Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty remain on the inner surface of the city, and there are 9 architectural relics in the north city. There are scattered burnt animal bones and gray pottery pieces on the surface of the city, and there are five baht coins, pottery spinning wheels, bronzes and ironware unearthed in the Tang Dynasty.
