Thomas Cole (180 1- 1848) is a famous American landscape painter and one of the founders of Hudson River School. His most famous romantic scenery about new york and New England, such as White Mountain Canyon (Crawford Canyon) and American lake view, Oxford (Connecticut River near Northampton). He also created allegorical paintings, including The Rise and Fall of the Empire, Life Travel and The Dream of Architects. Cole was born in England and immigrated to the United States in 18 19. He studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. At first, he was a portrait painter and sculptor. He successfully exhibited his first batch of landscape paintings. 18966/6686171829, Cole went to Europe and visited Britain, France and Italy. 1832 After returning to the United States, he began to create allegorical paintings and historical paintings.
