1. IELTS
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a widely accepted and recognized international standardized test for assessing English language proficiency. It is designed to assess the English proficiency of non-native English speakers in four areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The IELTS exam is jointly administered by the British Council, Cambridge Assessment English and IDP Education Australia. The exam is divided into two categories: academic and general. The specific exam content and format will be adjusted according to the exam category.
IELTS scores are expressed in integers and decimals, with a total score of 9 points. Each skill (listening, speaking, reading, writing) is scored independently and presented as individual scores and composite scores.
Different countries and institutions may have different requirements for IELTS scores. Generally speaking, IELTS scores can be used to apply for study abroad, immigration applications, professional certification, etc.
In order to prepare for the IELTS test, candidates can participate in pre-IELTS training courses, practice more listening, speaking, reading and writing, and become familiar with the test question types and requirements. At the same time, you can also use relevant test preparation materials and reference books to conduct self-assessment and improvement through mock exams.
2. TOEFL
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a widely used international standardized test for assessing the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. It is designed to prepare candidates for admission to colleges and academic institutions in the United States and other English-speaking countries.
The TOEFL test is administered and sponsored by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The test consists of four parts: listening, reading, speaking and writing, and is designed to assess candidates' English application abilities in these areas.
The listening and reading sections of the TOEFL test mainly test candidates’ ability to understand English listening and reading materials, including articles, academic lectures and dialogues.
The oral part requires candidates to answer questions, express opinions or describe experiences, and conduct oral communication. The writing section requires candidates to write an independent essay or statement of opinion on the reading and listening materials.
TOEFL scores are expressed in integers and decimals, and the total score range is 0-120. Different universities and academic institutions have different requirements for TOEFL. Generally speaking, TOEFL scores are often used as an important reference for applying for study abroad, academic research or professional certification.
