Foreigners also refer to people from Liaoning, Hebei and Heilongjiang provinces as Northeasters.

Why do people in the three northeastern provinces have this sense of region?

Although the accents are subdivided, the Northeastern dialects in the three provinces are slightly different, but they are all the same.

However, when you meet Dalian people on your trip, they seldom say "I'm from the Northeast", but just say "I'm from Dalian".

Why don't Dalian people who also live in the northeast say they are from the northeast, but directly say they are from Dalian?

This should have a lot to do with Dalian's customs, language habits, geographical location and development level.

First of all, in terms of language, Dalian dialect is very different from Northeast dialect. Dalian dialect belongs to Jiaoliao Mandarin and belongs to the dialect area with strong Shandong flavor.

The unique geographical location and climatic conditions make Dalian the south of northeast China. Although Dalian belongs to a city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, it is a sub-provincial city, and its comprehensive strength is stronger than that of Shenyang, the provincial capital.
