Programmers work abroad.

For domestic programmers, there are usually three ways to work abroad.

1. worked in a multinational company for more than a year, and then transferred internally to a foreign department. For example, after working in Microsoft China for one year, apply for transfer to foreign headquarters, and if approved, apply for L- 1 visa to work abroad.

2. directly apply for foreign companies. This is actually not as difficult as I thought. At present, many foreign IT companies directly recruit talents from China, such as Google and Facebook. These enterprises value the solid computer foundation and rich project experience of domestic programmers. After getting the offer from a foreign company, I applied for an H 1B visa to work abroad. However, according to the current application and approval of H 1B, the quota of H 1B will soon run out; The application will be submitted in April 1 every year, but you can't work legally until June 10, depending on whether the company can wait for you for half a year. Of course, many big companies are willing to wait. If you can't get the quota, some companies can arrange for you to work in other countries first, and then send you abroad when you apply for the quota next year.

3. Study abroad, and then find a job. First use the student visa of F 1 to study abroad. After graduation, I found a job and changed my visa to H1B. For example, during my master's degree in computer science at China University of Science and Technology, I took GRE and TOEFL and applied to foreign schools. After graduation, I got a full scholarship to study for a doctorate in computer science at North Carolina State University. Four years later, I graduated and went to work at Microsoft. This is also the path taken by many China programmers working in the United States.

In fact, if you are not interested in research, you can apply for a master's degree instead of a doctor's degree without a full scholarship. Studying abroad is not difficult, as long as you have a certain economic foundation. But the disadvantage of this method is that it takes a long time and costs a lot.
