Introduction to Maoping Town

Maoping Town is located in the southeast of Zhenan County, Shangluo City, at 109°29′ east longitude and 33°11′ north latitude. It borders Miaochuan Township, Sixiakou Town, Yunxi County, Hubei Province to the east, and Xun County to the south. Yang County is connected to Luojia Township, Xikou Hui Town and Guanpinghe Township to the west, and Miliang Town to the north. The highest point is Beiyang Mountain at 1,680 meters, and the lowest point at Maojiagou Mouth is 882.9 meters; the population density is 118 people per square kilometer. Area is 94 square kilometers. At the end of December 2003, the town had a total population of 9,030 people and governed 5 villages and 28 groups: Yuanping, Maoping, Wuxing, Fengjing and Hongguang. The town government is located in Maoping Street, 990 meters above sea level, 75 kilometers away from the county seat.
