Songjiang Town, located in the middle of Songjiang District, is an important station of Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway. The township is east to Xindongjing Port, south to Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway, west to the intersection of Guputang and Dongbang, and north to the northwest of Shengsheng Bridge. It is surrounded by Huayang Bridge, Cang Qiao and Wulitang Township. It is about 5.6 kilometers long from east to west and 2.5 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of about 8.4 square kilometers. With a history of 1250 years, it has always been the seat of Songjiang Prefecture and the oldest town in Shanghai. 1998 after Songjiang was removed from the county construction area, the old city of Songjiang gradually evolved into Yueyang, Yongfeng and Zhongshan streets, which together with Song Fang Street in the new city constitute the main part of Songjiang New City, with an area of about 100 square kilometers, and it is the core area of Songjiang's future urban construction. Songjiang Qin Zhen, Tangxian, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties were all national textile centers, southeast metropolises and famous land of plenty in the south of the Yangtze River. From the tenth year of Tang Tianbao (AD 75 1 year) to the end of Qing Dynasty, Huating County, Huating House, Songjiang House and Louxian County were all located here. In the 14th year of Yuan Dynasty (1277), it was promoted to Huating House and changed to Songjiang House the following year. In the tenth year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (1805), it evolved into 1 house (Songjiang), 7 counties (Huating, Shanghai, Qingpu, Lou, Fengxian, Jinshan, Nanhui) and 1 hall (Chuansha). In the first year of the Republic of China (19 12), the government was abandoned, and Huating and Louxian were merged into Huating County. In the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), it was changed to Songjiang county. During the Republic of China, Songjiang County Government and Jiangsu No.3 and fourth area Commissioners' Offices were located here. After liberation, Sunan Administrative Office established Songjiang District. In the early years of the Republic of China, the town was named Huating City and Songjiang City, and later renamed Chengxiang District and Urban District. In 36 years (1947), the district was withdrawn and the county was directly under the jurisdiction. Songjiang City (Southern Jiangsu Administrative Region of Songjiang Commissioner's Office) was set up at the beginning of liberation, which governs Huayang, Zhongshan, Yueyang and Yongfeng. August 1949, 1, Songjiang city and county merged into Songjiang county, and Songjiang city was changed to county-level city. 1/kloc-0 was withdrawn from the market in June, and the urban people's government was established to govern Zhongshan, Yueyang and Yongfeng. 1March, 958, Songjiang District was revoked and placed under Suzhou District. 1958165438+10 was transferred from Jiangsu province to Shanghai in October. /kloc-0 was renamed as Chengxiang Town in 1963, and/kloc-0 was renamed as Today Town in February 1980. 1984 8 production teams were assigned to Wulitang Township, and Ledu Road Brigade (later changed to Village) was established. 1985 Songjiang Town has three sub-district offices in Zhongshan, Yueyang and Yongfeng, 48 neighborhood committees, 654 residents' groups, 1 administrative village and 8 villagers' groups. 1February, 1998, the State Council approved the withdrawal of counties to build districts. Songjiang District now has 1 1 Town 4 Street. There are 134 neighborhood committees and 1 15 village committees in the whole region. There are national export processing zones, tourist resorts, municipal industrial zones, science and technology parks and Wushe agricultural parks. Songjiang is one of the three new cities in Shanghai's 11th five-year development plan. Songjiang was called Huating in ancient times, also known as Yun Jian, Rongcheng and Shui Gu. According to historical records, the origin of the word "Songjiang" was changed because the name of "Huating" was duplicated with that of Gansu Province. "Songjiang" refers to the Suzhou River (Wusong River) in Shanghai, which has been under the jurisdiction of Songjiang Prefecture since ancient times. Before the Song Dynasty, the water volume of Wusong River was greater than that of Huangpu River. The Huangpu River from Songjiang District to Huangpu District (that is, the middle and upper reaches of Huangpu River) used to be called "Shanghai Pu", and the Huangpu River east of Suzhou Estuary (originally a tributary of Wusong River, that is, Tanyuan to the Yangtze River Estuary) was called "Shanghai Pu". The name "Shanghai" was taken from this "Shanghai Pu" in Songjiang Prefecture. In addition, according to reliable linguistic research, Shanghai dialect is not a simple synthesis of Ningbo dialect and Suzhou dialect as previously thought, but the result of the integration of Songjiang dialect. (Qian Nairong, 2003, Yue Se's Shanghai Spoken Grammar 1853). Before the opening of Shanghai, Songjiang was the political, economic and cultural center of Shanghai. Because of its long history and profound context, it has been called "the root of Shanghai" in recent years and has been supported and recognized by experts, scholars and the public.

Songjiang District governs 4 streets and 1 1 towns: Yueyang Street, Yongfeng Street, Song Fang Street, Zhongshan Street, Sijing Town, sheshan town, Chedun Town, xinqiao town, Dongjing Town, jiuting town, Maogang Town, shihudang town, Xinbang Town, Yexie Town and Xiaokunshan Town; Shanghai Songjiang Science and Technology Park, Wushe Agricultural Park, Sheshan Resort and Songjiang Industrial Zone.
