Taohuadian Reservoir in Luoyang

Taohuadian Reservoir is a medium-sized reservoir, located at the intersection of Majian River and Liujian River, a tributary of Yihe River in our city, and at the junction of Gou, Gaolong and Guxian. The reservoir was completed on 1959, 1 1 and passed the acceptance test on 1983. The reservoir is mainly composed of dam, main spillway and east-west water conveyance tunnel, with a total control basin area of 230km2 and a total storage capacity of18.72 million m3. The flood control standard is once in 50 years and once in 2000.

After the completion of Taohuadian Reservoir, it has played an important role in flood control, irrigation, industrial water supply and aquaculture. Flood control irrigation is the main method in the early stage. The designed irrigation area of the reservoir is 26,000 mu, and the effective irrigation area is 2 1 10,000 mu. 1980, undertook the task of industrial water supply. At present, the reservoir has sufficient water and good water quality.
