Most of the graduates of this major enter various iron and steel enterprises, manufacturing enterprises, automobile factories, ceramics, cement, home appliances and other enterprises, and have a wide range of employment. However, due to the variety of classification of materials science and engineering, there are metallic materials, nonmetallic materials, polymer materials, functional materials and inorganic nonmetallic materials.

Generally speaking, materials science and engineering majors mostly enter iron and steel enterprises and related scientific research institutes, while polymers and nonmetals mostly enter industries such as ceramics, glass, coatings and household appliances, and most of them belong to large state-owned enterprises, private enterprises and scientific research institutions. Majoring in materials science and engineering is easier to find a job than applying materials processing and other research directions.
